There is no clinically validated human dose you can look up here, because for this compound one does not exist in the way regulated drugs have. We report what research and regulators actually say, and nothing more.

What it is

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist: it mimics the gut hormone GLP-1 to slow gastric emptying, reduce appetite, and improve blood-sugar control. It is a genuine, FDA-approved prescription drug, not a research chemical.

The evidence, stated plainly

Backed by large randomized controlled trials (the STEP program for obesity, SUSTAIN for diabetes). Approved for type 2 diabetes (2017), chronic weight management (Wegovy, 2021), cardiovascular risk reduction (2024), and kidney-disease risk reduction in T2D (2025). This is among the best-evidenced peptide drugs in existence.

Why we grade this “FDA-approved”

Approved by the FDA; a real label and dosing exist. We label evidence by its strongest honest tier, never by a vendor’s enthusiasm.

Half-life & timing

Its long ~7-day half-life, which allows once-weekly dosing, comes from albumin binding and fatty-acid acylation that protect it from the DPP-4 enzyme that degrades native GLP-1 within minutes.

Regulatory status

FDA-approved and available only by prescription. Because it is approved, an official titration schedule exists on the label. We do not improvise on that schedule; a prescriber sets it. Note: compounded versions vary in quality and are a different regulatory situation from the branded product.

Storage & handling

Commercial pens are refrigerated at 2 to 8 C before first use; consult the specific product label for in-use storage and shelf life, which differ by brand and formulation.

The math is the dangerous part

Whatever dose a protocol or provider gave you, converting it to syringe units is where errors turn into 10× mistakes. Our calculator does only that conversion — it never invents the dose.

The honest bottom line

Semaglutide is the opposite of the research-chemical peptides on this site: approved, trial-backed, and prescriber-managed. If you are considering it, that is a conversation with a licensed clinician who can write and titrate a real prescription, not a gray-market vial.
